ATP Board of Directors
The Austin Transit Partnership Board of Directors provides strategic oversight of the implementation of Project Connect and the delivery of Austin Light Rail. The voting members are composed of three appointed community expert directors and a representative of the Austin City Council (City Council Director) and a representative of the CapMetro Board of Directors (CapMetro Director). In addition, there are two ex-officio members — one representing the City of Austin and one representing CapMetro.
Expiring Terms in 2026
Three positions with terms ending in December 2026 require either reappointment or appointment of a new member. These positions include: City Council Director; CapMetro Director; and Community Expert Director of Finance. There is no limit to the number of terms a board member may serve.
ATP facilitates the application process for only the Community Expert Director positions. The following application process relates to the Community Expert Director of Finance.
Application Process: Community Expert Director of Finance
Interested community members may submit the required documents during a 30-day application intake process, Oct. 1 – Oct. 30, 2026. The position qualifications are outlined in ATP’s Articles of Incorporation as well as the composition of the Nominating Committee that makes appointment recommendations for the Community Expert Director positions.
Qualifications for Community Expert Director of Finance
- At least 10 years of experience in finance, financial management, banking or investing with a focus on large capital projects; and
- Experience with budgets over $250M and/or comparable academic financial policy experience; and
- Must reside in the City of Austin.
Application Submittal
Qualified community members must submit the following three documents for a complete application submittal:
- Resume (maximum three pages) with information related to the above qualifications.
- Letter of interest (maximum two pages) detailing relevant experience related to community expertise in Finance. (Note: Applicants are not required to submit demographic information as a part of the application process but may opt to submit demographic information as a part of the Letter of interest.)
- Residency, Conflict of Interest & Lobbying Form. Form serves to verify City of Austin residency as well as provide information related to conflict of interest as noted and lobbyist status as noted on the form.
Deadline
Required documents must be submitted to ATPboardapp@atptx.org no later than 5 p.m. on October 30, 2026. (Note: The Nominating Committee at its discretion may modify the deadline. If modified, information will be updated accordingly.)
ATP Community Expert Directors Nominating Committee
The Nominating Committee is composed of the chairs of the City Council Audit and Finance Committee, the City Council Mobility Committee, the CapMetro Finance, Audit and Administration Committee, and the CapMetro Operations, Planning and Safety Committee. Applications were screened by ATP staff and referred to the Nominating Committee so the Committee may take up their process in October.
Timeline for Application and Appointment Process
- October: Application submission period
- November: Applications will be distributed by ATP to the Nominating Committee, which will convene and make a recommendation
- December: The Austin City Council and CapMetro Board of Directors will consider the Nominating Committee’s recommendation at separate meetings in December.
Public Information
Information submitted to ATP as a part of the application process should be considered public and may be requested as information responsive to the Texas Public Information Act.
Following the Nominating Committee’s written recommendation, the name of the recommended appointee will be published on ATP’s website prior to the appointment of the Community Expert Director of Finance.
