The RFI seeks industry feedback on the procurement documents and processes for ATP's final design and construction contract, which it plans to award next year. The partners selected for the multibillion-dollar agreement will help shape and deliver nearly every aspect of Austin’s first light rail system and play a critical role in the project’s success.
As a first step in the procurement process, ATP released a request for information for industry feedback on the draft solicitation and contract seeking final design and construction services related to the project’s transitway, tracks, systems, stations, bridges, traffic signals, utilities, drainage structures and streetscape.
The early engagement is designed to strengthen competition for the opportunity and provide potential partners with more information to assemble the best teams in their pursuit of the work.
Construction of Austin Light Rail Phase 1 is scheduled to begin in 2027.

Next Steps
- ATP is scheduled to release a request for qualifications in June.
- Qualified firms will then be invited to participate in a comprehensive request for proposals process in August that evaluates technical approach, collaboration, and cost.
- ATP will enter contract negotiations with the highest-ranked proposer.
